Capitol Hill Shooting: Young Child Was In Suspect’s Car

Multiple gunshots were fired near Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 3. Police actively pursued a black vehicle that was driving erratically near the White House. Police were authorized to use force in the chase. Shots were fired at the vehicle, which was discovered to be carrying a young child as a passenger.

A suspicious car was driving erratically and attempting to bypass police barricades near Capitol Hill on Oct. 3. Shots were fires by law enforcement in attempts to control, following police authorization to use force against the car. A very young child was later removed from the car. Police explain that they did not know that a child was in the vehicle, or what the driver’s intent was when she hit into a police barricade. The young girl was removed from the vehicle after the chase and subsequent crash, and appeared uninjured following the shoot-out and crash.
